The Israeli doctor Herman Berkovits, born into a Transylvanian family, has a substantial contribution to strengthening the relations between Romania and Israel. Over the years, he has facilitated meetings between top-level Romanian officials and Benjamin Netanyahu: Adrian Năstase, Traian Băsescu, Mircea Geoană, Adriean Videanu, Sorin Oprescu, etc.
For his contribution to consolidating the relations between the Romanian and Israeli local authorities, which resulted in facilitating a better cooperation between the Municipality of Bucharest and the Municipality of Jerusalem, dr. Herman Berkovits was awarded the ”Keys of the City” distinction.
In appreciation for his services to Romania and for his good relations with all political and professional circles, he will soon be appointed Honorary Consul of Romania in Israel.
